Edit Metadata sets the document properties inside a PDF — the title, author, subject and keywords that describe the file. These fields show up in the reader’s title bar and document panel, feed search and library tools, and are what a well-organised archive relies on. Filling them in makes a PDF look professional and easy to find.

How it works
Ream opens the PDF in your browser and writes the values you enter into its document-information dictionary, then saves a copy. Only the fields you fill in are changed; leave a field blank and its current value is kept. The visible pages are never touched.

Why set metadata?
A proper title means the document shows a real name in a browser tab or reader instead of a filename like scan_0007.pdf. Consistent author and keyword fields make large collections searchable and are used by document-management systems and, for published PDFs, can help discovery. It’s a small touch that makes a file feel finished.
Set or remove?
This tool sets the properties. If your goal is the opposite — stripping author, software and other hidden details before sharing a file publicly — use Remove Metadata instead. The two are complements: set metadata to organise, remove it to protect privacy.
