Ream is a growing toolkit of fast, genuinely private PDF tools — built for people who just want to get a document done without handing it to a stranger’s server.

Why we built Ream

Most online PDF tools ask you to upload your file, sit through an ad, and hope it’s deleted afterwards. For a contract, an ID or an invoice, that’s a lot of trust to place in a website you’ve never heard of. We thought the everyday jobs — merge, split, compress, sign — should simply happen on your own device, where your files never leave in the first place.

How it works

Wherever it’s technically possible, Ream’s tools run entirely in your browser. Your file is opened, edited and saved locally — nothing is uploaded. The handful of jobs that need real horsepower (rebuilding a Word document, running OCR, encrypting a PDF) run on our own hardened server, where each file is processed in an isolated sandbox and deleted the moment it’s finished.

What we believe

• Private by default. The best way to protect your files is to never receive them.
• No dark patterns. No sign-up walls, no forced accounts, no watermark on your result, no “upgrade to continue” nag.
• Actually free. Every tool is free to use.
• Honest about limits. We tell you what a tool can and can’t do, instead of overpromising.

Who’s behind it

Ream is made by a small team in Germany, operated by Compu Global Hyper Meganet UG (haftungsbeschränkt). We keep the project running through occasional, clearly-labelled Amazon product recommendations in the sidebar — never by selling data, because we don’t collect it.
