Unlock PDF

Remove a password from a PDF you can already open — so you don’t have to type it every time.

Private by design. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed in an isolated sandbox with no internet access, then deleted the instant it’s done. We never store it or read it. How this works

Unlock PDF removes the password from a document you can already open. Banks, payroll and utilities often send statements locked with a password, which gets tedious when you want to read, print or store them freely. Unlock strips that password once, so the file opens normally from then on.

It runs on a hardened server (removing encryption needs a real engine): your file and password travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection, are processed in isolation, and are deleted immediately afterwards. Free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

How it works

locked unlock unlocked

You provide the current password; Ream uses it to remove the encryption and returns an unlocked copy that opens without a prompt. It only works on documents you can already open with the password — it is not a way to break into a file you do not have the password for.

You need the current password

locked password you know opens freely

Unlock removes a password you already know. It can’t open a file you are locked out of — that would defeat the purpose of encryption, and it isn’t what this tool does. If you set the password yourself and want to put it back on later, use Protect PDF.

When to unlock a PDF

  • Removing the password from bank or card statements.
