Private by design. This tool runs entirely in your browser — your file is processed on your device and is never uploaded to us. How this works
Edit PDF is a simple visual editor for marking up any PDF: add text, draw boxes, and drop highlights onto the page, then drag everything into position. When you’re happy, download a new PDF with your additions baked in.
It runs entirely in your browser, so your document is never uploaded — private, instant, with no account and no watermark. It’s built for adding to a PDF (notes, labels, fill-ins); to re-typeset the existing text, convert to Word first.
How it works
Ream renders your PDF in the browser so you can see it, with a layer on top for your text, boxes and highlights. On download, those elements are drawn straight into the PDF — nothing is sent to a server, and the original pages stay intact underneath your additions.

What you can add
- Text — labels, notes, or answers on a form. Choose the size and colour; double-click to type.
- Boxes — outline something, or draw a simple frame.
- Highlights — a translucent marker to draw the eye.
Move anything by dragging it, resize with the corner handle, and delete with the × or the Delete key. Use the page arrows to work through a multi-page document.
Adding to a PDF vs. rewriting it
This editor adds to a page — perfect for signing off, filling in, labelling or annotating. It doesn’t reflow the document’s existing text, because a PDF stores fixed positions rather than editable paragraphs. To change the original wording, convert to Word, edit there, and export back to PDF. To place a signature, use Sign PDF.
When you’ll use it
- Filling in a simple form that isn’t interactive.
- Adding notes or comments to a document.
- Labelling a diagram or drawing.
- Marking up a draft for someone else.
