How to convert a PDF to grayscale

Is it private, and is it free?

Grayscale PDF is free with no sign-up or watermark. Re-rendering pages in a new colour space is real work, so it runs on our server (a “Server” badge marks these): the file is sent over an encrypted connection to a hardened, network-isolated sandbox, converted, and deleted immediately afterwards — never stored or read.
